NASA absolutely crushed it with the Artemis mission, and it’s a huge victory for the theory that normal people can go to space and have a good time.
For too long, space discourse has been dominated by this wannabe counter-cultural narrative that you can’t do it with a weenie sissy DEI culture, or the government, or whatever. Everyone needs to be a macho man that works 20 hours a day and sleeps in a tent on the job to get humans out beyond the Earth. All of the typical government contractors are also just dumb wastes of money that can’t do anything right or on time.
Counterpoint: yeah, actually, NASA and the usual suspect government contractors just sent a bunch of pretty normal people to the moon, and it freaking rocked.
Normies in space.
Normal people can work hard enough to send people to space and bring them back safely.
Normal people can do the math required to make this happen.
Normal people tested or simulated everything a million times to make sure everything critical worked.
Normal people had to use their judgment to make a million tiny go-no-go calls to decide if they were ready to launch this mission to space for 10 days.
Because they are normal people, they won’t take credit for any of this in an effective way.
Congratulations, normal people!! You did it.
I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon, whooaaa.
